"Suicide is a public health crisis that goes beyond the mental health community. It is up to each and everyone one of us to take responsibility and to be there when someone reaches out for help in order to prevent and reduce successful attempts, and ultimate, save lives. Our initiative is a global rallying cry for those we have lost far too soon and for those we can together save." - Erin Macauley, Chief Hope Officer, Accelerating Social Good
As a pending public benefit corporation, we care not just about profits but about people too. Our cause is suicide prevention. Every day, 123 Americans die by suicide. There are 20 attempts made for every one suicide committed. Because of bullying, every year 5,300 youth take their own lives.
We are determined to help reverse the trend in now 5o-year high suicide rates, particularly for our children, LGBTQIA+ youth and the bipolar community which accounts for 50% of all suicide.
With 50,000 lives lost each year and approximately 11 million suicide attempts, it is critical that the lens through which this issue is viewed is shifted. Real resolutions must be brought into focus for a problem so often swept under the rug and so rarely prevented due to limited access to funding, coverage or effective treatment.
We are calling for this shift to mobilize the public, arming people with information designed to raise awareness and advocacy, to treat the crisis not as confined within the mental health community, but as one supported by broader social justice initiatives.
With simple calls to action deployed through social media, more and more people are reminded that suicide prevention is everyone’s responsibility.
Together, let's save lives. Join Our cause. meet our PARTNERS.
We are building collaborative alliances with kindred spirits — suicide prevention activists, mental health advocates, nonprofits, and social-impact ventures — who share our vision. Through these ties, we amplify our voices and make a greater impact on public attitudes and suicide prevention funding and policies, reducing the number of suicide attempts and saving lives. We are simply stronger when we stand together. Stand with us.
