Kerry Martin, M.P.P., CSMCEO AND FOUNDER |MENTAL HEALTH SOLUTIONAIRE AND SUICIDE PREVENTION ACTIVIST |CERTIFIED SCRUM MASTEROn the road less traveled, Kerry is the sprinter. She thinks fast, does swiftly and gives back. Kerry disrupts with innovative solutions, adds conceptual framework to abstraction, fixes problems, structures disorganization, streamlines inefficiencies, and shines light where there is darkness. Kerry is also walking with bipolar disorder, a suicide attempt survivor, and mental health solutionaire and suicide prevention activist.
As a savvy strategist and dynamic empathic leader, our CEO has been getting it done for over 25 years, driving innovative solutions to a wide range of business challenges across multiple industries in both nonprofit and for profit sectors including mental healthcare, cause marketing, public relations and communications, political fundraising and information technology. There is no better training ground for mastering skill sets required for big picture thinking, cause collaboration, and disruptive innovation than startup and entrepreneurial settings. Being visionary, perseverant, passionate and hyper-organized while obsessed with client needs led to continuous improvements and high-value business and social outcomes.
As a pro bono consultant, Kerry collaborates with our partners, such as National Shattering Silence Coalition, providing strategic advising in nonprofit management, strategic marketing, website design and development, cause awareness and fundraising campaigns, public relations, project management, social impact management and measurement as well as preparing annual social impact reports. As a New Zealand kiwi, she lives and breathes the team haka. Embracing this 'warrior' spirit is contagious when you lead by example. One of her greatest accomplishments is being recognized by her peers as a hands-on thought leader, galvanizing cross-functional teams to give it their all and perform at their best. Kerry is a Certified Scrum Master, which seems apropos given rugby is her home country's national past time, with the scrum used by a team to nimbly move the footie down the field and score. Kerry is without question a heartfelt believer in Nelson Henderson's quote, "the true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit." Misdiagnosed in her 20s with depression and incorrectly medicated, Kerry spent two decades riding the bipolar roller coaster until properly diagnosed in her early 40s. Now, living holistically and on the proper meds, she works hard to maintain "balance" and is passionately committed to ensuring no one else goes through what she did. A former CEO and Founder of a nonprofit dedicated to preventing suicide and optimizing mental health outcomes in the bipolar community, Kerry continues volunteer work in the field of mental health doing advocacy work under our umbrella. She also took a time out to address a glaring social injustice, inequitable access to mental health care and an alarming increase in suicide rates in the bipolar community, taking her case all the way to the FDA with an esteemed group of colleagues. Kerry holds a Master's Degree from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government in Public Policy with an Emphasis in Human Services, Labor and Education and a Bachelors of Arts in Economics with Distinction from the University of California, San Diego. Our Founder and CEO is very active on LinkedIn. We invite you to link up with her. |
